Nigeria has produced the youngest Chartered Accountant. She is a 16-year-old Osasere Okundaye.
At just 16, Osasere Okundaye has cleared a professional bar that many adults spend years working towards, setting a record that is likely to stand for some time and inspiring conversations about nurturing exceptional talent in Nigeria from an early age.
The Minister for Youth Development Ayodele Olawande, congratulated the teenager and praised her discipline and resilience. He credited Osasere’s parents, teachers and mentors for playing a key role in her historic achievement.
“Their encouragement, sacrifices, and belief in her abilities have undoubtedly contributed to this exceptional success,” the minister said.
Osasere Okundaye, a 16-year-old teenager, has made history by qualifying as a Chartered Accountant, coming out in flying colours from the Institute of chartered Accountants of Nigeria, ICAN examinations, a feat that has drawn national attention and official recognition from the country’s government.

“I heartily congratulate Miss Osasere Okundaye on her outstanding achievement of becoming Nigeria’s youngest Chartered Accountant at just 16 years of age,” the minister wrote, calling her accomplishment “a testament to the power of hard work, discipline, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.”
Role Model for Nigerian youth
The minister’s statement went beyond personal congratulations, framing Osasere’s achievement within a broader conversation about the potential of Nigerian youth.
He described her as “a shining example of the limitless potential of Nigerian youth” and said her success proved that young Nigerians could break barriers and inspire an entire generation when given the right support and opportunities.

Okundaye’s qualification breaks a record set in 2022 by Jonathan Adewale, who was 17 when he became the then-youngest chartered accountant in the country.
The ICAN certification is considered one of the most demanding professional qualifications in Nigeria, one that typically takes graduates and seasoned professionals years of intensive study to obtain, making her accomplishment at 16 all the more striking.
