One of the African football Champions Morroco has defeated Netherlands at the on-going world Cup competition to qualify for the round of 16.
The match played in Estadio Monterrey, Mexico ended 1-1 after full time, with Morocco beating the Netherlands 3-2 on penalties. They will face Canada in Houston on July 4
Morroco Fans Ecstatic
Moroccan fans had to have nerves of steel on Monday night, as they watched their team squeak past the Netherlands in a tense penalty shootout – and into the World Cup Round of 16.
Mohammed and Aziz said , “We are happy today because we beat the Netherlands. We played better than them; they defended against us for 120 minutes,” The match was difficult, but we have players we are proud of. We knew who we were playing against, because the Netherlands is a tough team that plays well. But they did not scare us because they focused on defending, while our players are very good.”
Moroccans rejoice
The 2026 World Cup is the first to feature 48 national teams, and the first to be hosted by three countries; United States, Canada, and Mexico. The tournament runs from June 11 to July 19, across 16 host cities throughout North America.
