Nigerian Ball Boy Tonye Set For Guiness World Record -

Nigerian football freestyler Tonye Solomon, popularly known as Ball Boy Tonye, is set for current Guinness World Records after completing a 31.2-kilometre cycling challenge while balancing a football on his head.

Tonye Solomon cycled along the highway during the rain with the ball balanced on his head, as cars and supporters follow and film the attempt.

Solomon said the challenge was gruelling after the ball fell from his head during his first attempt, forcing him to start again.

“I’m the happiest boy today to put Bayelsa State for the third time in the Guinness World Record,” he said after completing the challenge.

He completed the daunting distance in 2 hours, 11 minutes, and 25 seconds, vastly outperforming the previous record of 20 Kilometers. His journey spanned from the Goodnews Junction in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, all the way to Towgate at the Rivers State boundary, South South of Nigeria.

Remarkable

According to organisers, Solomon covered 31.2 kilometres in two hours, 11 minutes and 25 seconds.

Chukwuebuka Ezugha, who runs the Chukwuebuka Freestyle Academy, said Solomon had beaten the existing record by around 10 to 11 kilometres.

“So he has beaten the record,” said Ezugha. “After now, we’ll compile all the video evidence, the picture evidence, and submit to Guiness world record, so and hopefully we get to get, we hope to get response in less than four weeks.”

“With all the challenges today under the rain Tonye Ball Boy, popularly known as Ball Boy, has broken another world record. This is his third record,” said fan Dickson Priboye.

Harvests of Records

Solomon previously made headlines in 2023 after climbing 150 ladder steps to the top of a 76-metre radio mast in Yenagoa while balancing a football on his head, earning a Guinness World Records title.

In September 2024, he secured another Guinness title after treading water for 28 minutes and 34 seconds while keeping a football balanced on his head.

Guinness World Records had not confirmed Solomon’s latest cycling attempt at the time of publication, meaning the new title remains subject to verification.
