UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan visited the Ministry of Defence in Abu Dhabi on Sunday to review the country’s military readiness amid ongoing escalation in the Middle East.
The president meeting with UAE Vice President and Minister of Defence Sheikh Mohamed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, as well as other senior military officials.
According to local media, the president assessed the readiness of the armed forces and their capabilities to respond to various emergency challenges in light of the current military escalation and its potential repercussions on regional security and stability.
It comes as part of the president’s ongoing assessment of regional developments and the latest updates related to defence and military affairs, as well as efforts to strengthen operational readiness.
Tensions in the Middle East have intensified after the United States and Israel launched strikes on Iran on February 28. Tehran responded by launching missile and drone attacks targeting Israel and US interests in the region, with explosions reported in several Gulf countries.
