Three Chinese younger generations have appreciated the tremendous greatness of Nigeria as the China and Nigeria celebrated Independence anniversary on the 1st of October,2026.
Faust Tugeluke, Kayon Wu Keyang and Mary Zlou, Interpreters at the just concluded Seminar on Broadcast Convergence and Communication Capacity Building for Nigerian Media Professionals told Voice of Nigeria Correspondent Qasim Akinreti and Abass Bamali,of the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, in Beijing that Nigeria are special people who came make their country better and prosperous as China. They also noted that Nigeria has great development in entertainment, a driven place for media and Communication growth as well as people noted for care love and kindness.
The young Chinese look forward to visiting Nigeria
Faust Tugeluke said:
“Nigerians are special people who will utilise the experience of visit to China to make the country better and prosperous like China“.
In the words of Kayon Wu Keyang:
“After my search Online and communicating with Nigerian Journalists, i found out that the Nigeria is great country with thriving entertainment, broadcasting, media and communication industries and good media. It is a driven place. I look forward coming to Nigeria”.
Mary Zlou a female interpreter shared her thoughts thus:
“Nigerian people are very kind, i think it is very nice to make friends with Nigerians “.
Nigeria and China shared the same independence anniversary date on October 1st.

Independence Greetings from Bamali
26 Nigerian media practitioners were in China for a two week course at the training base of the Research and Training Institute of National Radio and Television Administration complex, Nanchen Road Beijing following series of Memorandum Of Understanding, MOU’s amongst the federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation, its media agency and parastatals namely (Voice of Nigeria, VON, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, Nigerian Television Authority, NTA, and National Broadcasting Commission, NBC), with the Chinese Media Group, Chinese News Agency, Xinhua, and bilateral cultural discussions with Chinese Embassy in Abuja.
The two weeks training programme focus on Classroom lectures, professional practice and media facility tours, cultural tours to the Great Wall of China, the Temple of Heaven, the Olympic central axis of Beijing, the Ice Cave, Taosi Museum and Mountain as well as the Hukou Waterfall – Yellow Lake among others in the Shanxi Province.

The classroom lectures Focused on six topical areas such as:
– Xi Jinping’s Cultural Thought: Basic Overview of Radio and Television in China and International Cooperation and Exchange delivered by Yang Youg, Deputy Director General NTRA.

Telling the Story of Chinese Modernisation: Global News Observation Perspectives and International Communication Practices- A Case Study of Xinhua News Agency presented by Wang Hongjiang Senior Journalist with the Xinhua News Agency.

Professional Practices Sessions
There were nine professional practices sessions covering the following areas, Visiting Beijing Zhongke Wenger AI Science and Technology Company Ltd for hands on training and gaining insight into full stack products, the Taosi Site Museum to conduct converged media filming practice, learn integrated television and audio narrative techniques for historical and cultural themes and capture on site visual footage, the Linfen Micro-Short Drama Base ( one of the five major micro short drama bases in Shanxi province) to learn about media convergence through new audiovisual formats and practical approaches for global outreach through short videos and micro-short dramas.
Others include Converged media reporting project focused on distinctive local industries, carry out practical project on integrated television and audio-visual communication at the Xiangning Ecological Cultural Demonstration Zone, Zisha Clay Intangible Cultural Heritage Workshop in Changning Town, Xiangning County, Linfen City, Conduct field practice at the Xiagning Wine Grape Cultivation and Processing Base. Under the guidance of professional supervisors, conduct investigations and practical field studies in Fengnanyauan (an underdeveloped area), Linfen City and Conducting filed filming practice, study the audio-visual presentation pf ancient architectural culture.
This allowed participants to learn how documentary cinematography conveys the distinctive features of ancient architecture and explore diverse approached to the audiovisual expression of cultural heritage. Nigerian Journalists produced short videos on all their activities in Beijing and Shanxi province.
The participants from Voice of Nigeria are Qasim Akinrei, PhD, Head Digital Media, Ugoma Cokey, Head Training Department, Engineer Ismail Imran, Head of Engineering Department, Mr. Muhammad Danbuama, Head Legal Department and Mr. Akafta Waziri, Public Affairs Unit in the DG’s Office.
