Benin Republic Children Milk Withdrawal

Benin Republic health authorities have issued a nationwide recall of Nursie infant milk after detecting cereulide, a toxin in imported batches linked to a French-Irish supply chain.
Parents have been urged to stop using the formula and return any purchased products.
The toxin is highly heat-resistant and can cause serious digestive issues in infants, including vomiting, diarrhoea, and dehydration.
Authorities say the recall is largely under control, with inspections ongoing to ensure no contaminated milk remains on shelves.
The alert is part of a wider international food safety investigation in 2026, with global health bodies, including the WHO, closely monitoring the situation.
