The Senegalese National football team ” Taranga Lions “, received national heroes welcome in Dakar , celebrating the national team victory over Morocco at the AFCON 2025 football competition in Morocco on Sunday night .
Senegalese supporters gathered outside Blaise Diagne International Airport, waving flags and playing music as the squad arrived. As night fell, crowds lined the route into the city, cheering as the team bus passed under police supervision.
“We’re just feeling happy, we set out on a mission to bring home a second star, and we did it,” shared one fan.
“When I see this crowd, it’s wonderful because we’re together, it’s so beautiful, and I don’t even have the words to describe it,” he continued.
Second Nation’s Cup Trophy
Senegal clinched their second AFCON trophy on Sunday after a thrilling clash against Morocco at Rabat’s Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium.
The match reached a dramatic climax when the hosts were awarded a stoppage-time penalty, sparking furious protests from Senegal’s players and a 15-minute walk-off. Morocco’s Brahim Diaz then saw his spot-kick saved by Edouard Mendy, before Pape Gueye struck in the first period of extra time to seal the title for the Taranga Lions.
The win gives Senegal a second Africa Cup of Nations title, following their 2021 triumph, while Morocco remains without a continental title since 1976 despite reaching the final on home soil.
