Morroco's New Prime Minister

Morrocco has named the first Female Prime Minister, Fatima Zahra Mansouri.
Moroccan King Mohammed VI task the Prime Minister to form a new government after her Authenticity and Modernity Party topped the country’s parliamentary elections.
King Mohammed VI received Mansouri at the Royal Palace in Rabat, where she bowed and kissed his hand before the two spoke. Mansouri walked through the palace courtyard, with the Moroccan flag flying above the entrance.
“Work will begin today, and we will start with internal consultations within the party, followed by consultations with all political parties,” said Mansouri.
Great Expectation for Young People
She said the incoming government would face “great expectations” from Moroccans, particularly young people, and pledged to develop a programme offering “realistic and practical solutions”.
Mansouri described her appointment as a ‘historic moment’, saying that becoming the first woman to head Morocco’s government “is not only a source of pride for me, but a source of pride for all Moroccan women”.
She pledged to work with all sectors of society, saying the king’s guidance on the role of Moroccan women had been clear, with the aim of building a society united by all its active forces.

Morocco’s Maghreb Arab Press Agency reported that King Mohammed VI appointed Mansouri under Article 47 of the Constitution and tasked her with forming the new government.
Her appointment followed parliamentary elections on September 23, in which the Authenticity and Modernity Party won 97 seats in the House of Representatives, finishing ahead of the National Rally of Independents and the Istiqlal Party.
