Nigeria has again shattered the Guinness world records with largest cooking of a pot of Jollof rice weighing 8,780 kilogrammes.
The Guiness World Records,GWR, officcially recognised the great feat of Hilda Baci from Nigeria.
This was Baci second attempt at the Guinness World Records cooking event at the Eko Hotel and Suites , Lagos.
Fans and Celebrities
The event was tagged the ‘Gino World Jollof Festival ‘attracted a huge crowd of over 20,000 food enthusiasts, celebrities, nollywood stars and influencers. Prominent among them are Funke Akindele, Enioluwa Adeoluwa, Tomike Adeoye , David Adeleke (Davido). Others are, Bamidele Abiodun and Mrs Abiodun , wife of Ogun state Governor
Cooking Authencity
Before she started cooking, Baci washed the pot to confirm her fans on social media that the pot was “clean” because she had personally washed it. She said that she had carefully calculated the process to ensure the jollof’s authenticity.
Baci explained that she had “applied some mathematics” and would continue to monitor it as it cooked to make sure “everything was right.”
Just before she started cooking, Baci had an emotional prayer with Pastor Bolaji Idowu, the lead pastor of Havesters Church as the the crowd grew, and guests were excited to try the dish.
An innovator
Also Nigerian Set For World Rice Cooking Record
The latest achievement reinforced Hilda’s reputation as a record-breaking innovator as she had set a Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual in 2023, lasting 93 hours and 11 minutes.
Since her “Cookathon,” as she called it, her daring spirit has inspired many similar attempts. Baci had invited Lagos residence to the event shared in the experience and take some of the rice home.

The Guiness World Records approved the following statistics for the Hilda Baci’s race, a pot of jollof rice weighing 8,780 kg ( 19,356 1b.902). it was built within two months.
250 bags of Bati rice cooked of 4,700 kg.
600 cartons of Gino tomatoes paste combined with unions, spicy used for the cooking.
200 cartons of seasoning cubes.
16,000 serving plates provided for fans and enthusiasts at the event.
The Anxious Moment
Hilda Baci held on to an android phone and looking at the laptop with raptorous attention when the confirmation from the GWR was announced. In her words, ‘ i am so nervous waiting for the annoumncement’.
She dedicated this great feat to all , assisted chefs, engineers, pot fabicator and other team members .
