President Bola Ahmed TinubuPresident Bola Ahmed Tinubu has declared open the 2025 All Nigeria Editors Conference (ANEC) at the State House Conference Centre, Abuja.
The high-profile two-day national event, organised by the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE), convene leading voices from Nigeria’s media, political, and governance spheres to deliberate on the theme, “Democratic Governance and National Cohesion: The Role of Editors.”
Issues of Discourse
The 2025 ANEC feature keynote addresses, policy dialogues, and professional sessions focusing on the challenges and opportunities confronting the Nigerian media landscape in the digital age.
The Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence, Alhaji Muhammad Saad Abubakar and Prince Nduka Obaigbena, Chairman of Arise New and This Day newspaper, was the Chairman of conference, while Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, was the keynote speaker.
He said the media should serve as the public trust and the Editors role is germane.
Attendance
No fewer than 500 editors from across the country are expected to participate in the two-day event.
Also at the conference are Governors Ododo of Kogi state. Dauda Lawal of Zamfara, Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau, Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa, and Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano, among others were represented.
The eminent legal scholar and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Professor Awa Kalu, Managing Partner of Awa Kalu & Partners, addressed the participants on on the topic: “Election Disputes and Judicial Integrity: Navigating the Thin Line Between Law and Politics.”

The annual Editors Conference serves as a strategic forum for media professionals, policymakers, and opinion leaders to interrogate national issues and strengthen the role of the media in consolidating democratic governance and national cohesion.
The Nigerian Guild of Editors, established as the professional association of editors across print, broadcast.
Others are online media organizations who continues to play a strategic role in advancing ethical standards and defending press freedom in Nigeria.
