A Nigerian young Engineer Ibrahim Lawal Dankaba has unveiled a fully local armoured vehicle named the ‘Bagua’ in Katsina, Northwest of the country.
The ‘Bagua’ local armoured vehicle designed to operate in conflict-prone areas in the Sahel region.
Dankaba and his team put the finishing touches on the vehicle at his workshop, including welding and metalwork for use.
Highly Elated
“I decided to manufacture an armoured personnel carrier that can balance the variation in topography considerably. There are lots of armoured personnel carriers out there, but I think we need something more robust. Dankaba stated
An Inspiration
Dankaba shared that his main motivation is to combat crime that affects health, education, and the economy, especially impacting young people.
“It has long been my wish to put out something from my own experience. To put a stop to this criminality going on. Security is our collective responsibility. I think business will thrive, the economy will boom, and education will improve,” Dankaba added.
The Nigerian engineer aims to make the armoured personnel carrier available wherever it can be of use, not just in Katsina State.
The Bagua is expected to join local security efforts, providing a homegrown response to the persistent threat of armed criminal gangs, locally known as ‘bandits’ in northwestern Nigeria.
