8.2 million Cameroonians out of 30 million voted in the just concluded presidential election.
Voting began early 07.00 GMT and ended at 17.00 hours GMT on Sunday.
Results are expected in 15 days.
Incumbent president Paul Biya, 92 years old and 11 others participated in the election.
Biya’s opponents include former government spokesperson Issa Tchiroma, 76, Bello Bouba Maigari, Hermine Patricial Toimaino, Ndam Njoya, Joshua Osih, Labral Libni and Akere Muna among others
Tchiroma’s bid has drawn endorsements from a platform of some opposition parties and civic groups.
Voters Expectations
Two voters Patrick Mbarga Mbo and Hassane Djbril expected that the election will produce a winner who is ready for change in socio economic developments of the country.
According to Mbarga Mbo, “I hope it will go well, particularly for my champion. I hope peace and tranquillity will continue in the country after the election,”.
To Hassane Djbril, he hoped “the election would bring change”.
President Biya’s critics are still hoping he can be ousted after decades of economic stagnation and tensions in the Central African nation , an oil and cocoa producing country.
