Prince Samuel Adedoyin a Nigerian African Industrialist has turned 90.

He is globally known as a notable philanthropist, industrialist and entrepreneur in the manufacturing and banking industries in Nigeria for over 50 years.

Pa Samuel Adedoyin established Doyin Group of industries, manufactures of Okin Biscuits, Beauty Soaps and detergents in Ilorin, North Central Nigeria, as well a bank – Crown Merchant Bank, with headquarters in Lagos , Nigeria’s commercial center.

Okin Biscuits, Beauty Soaps and detergents were distributed across the West Africa.

The Nigerian President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, joined family, friends, and well-wishers across the country and globally in celebrating Prince Samuel Adedoyin, an extraordinary industrialist, philanthropist, and founder of the Doyin Group of Companies, on his 90th birthday.

President Tinubu described Prince Adedoyin, as a national icon with decades of footprints in the manufacturing sector of our national economy, is a patriarch of uncommon vision, discipline, and generosity.

In the words” Baba Adedoyin stands as one of Nigeria’s finest examples of industry, resilience, and patriotic commitment. Through sheer determination, entrepreneurial brilliance, and integrity, he built enterprises that have contributed significantly to our economy and created opportunities for countless Nigerians. His life’s journey remains a shining testament to what is possible through faith, hard work, and an unwavering belief in the promise of our country.

A classic example of Lagos Success Story

The Nigerian President who was the former Governor of Lagos State, referred to Baba Adedoyin as a classic example of a Lagos success story.

“He came to Lagos as a teenager from Agbamu, Kwara State, guided only by faith, determination, and a strong will to succeed. For over seven decades in Lagos, he has remained a respectable part of the state’s social and economic fabric. His love and affection for his native Agbamu have never waned, either.

I have always enjoyed a close, pleasant and warm personal relationship with Baba Adedoyin. I admire his strength of character and fortitude in the face of adversity and personal loss”.

Biography

Prince (Chief) Samuel Adedoyin was born on 4th December 1935 in Lagos , a native of Agbamu, in Kwara State North Central Nigeria. His parents Solomon Adedoyin Olaosebikan and wife Rachel Oni, who were both farmers, while his mother was also an aso-oke ( a traditional cloth materials) weaver, migrated to Lagos .

He is the founder and chairman of the Doyin Group of Companies, a conglomerate with stakes in manufacturing , real estate ,banking ,hospitality and energy.

Education and Career

He completed his education up to Standard Four before pursuing a career in business beginning in 1950.

Prince Adedoyin, began his business career as a trader and later expanded into other sectors. In 1968, he established the Doyin Group of Companies, which includes:

Doyin Investment Nigeria Ltd.
Doyin Motors Ltd.
Starco Motors Ltd.
Doyin Property and Trading Company Ltd.
Mat Manufacturing Company Ltd.
Doyin Cash and Carry Stores.

The group is known for producing toothpaste, seasoning , detergents, fruit juices, noodles , pharmaceuticals and agro chemical products. Many of these products are marketed in Nigeria and west African countries of Niger Republic , Gabon and Togo.

Philanthropy and educational contributions

The industrialist Prince Adedoyin has made philanthropic contributions, particularly in education. He established a Foundation Fund for the Handicapped and Less Privileged Children at the University of Ilorin . He was later appointed the Pioneer Chancellor of Trinity University, Lagos, in 2024.

Awards and Recognitions

Prince Adedoyin have numerous awards and honours including , Officer of the Federal Republic,(OFR) 1987 and National Productivity Merit Award by the Nigerian government as well as Freedom of the City of London, in 1990.
